Drugmaker AstraZeneca on Wednesday said that its experimental breast cancer treatment improved patient survival without the disease getting worse in a study, a positive outcome in the development of the therapy key to the company's pipeline.

The results showed statistically significant and clinically meaningful improvement in progression-free survival compared with the standard-of-care treatment, the company said.

AstraZeneca Plc’s experimental breast cancer pill helped patients live for longer without their disease worsening, the UK drugmaker said.

A scanner developed in Aberdeen could be potentially "extraordinary" for diagnosing and treating breast cancer, it has been claimed. Scientists from the University of Aberdeen used a prototype version of the new Field Cycling Imager (FCI) scanner to examine the breast tissue of patients newly-diagnosed with cancer.

Munn, who has been battling breast cancer since April 2023, was among the honorees at Time's Women of the Year Gala on Tuesday.
