A tornado watch has been issued for the south suburbs and Northwest Indiana as severe storms move into the Chicago area Wednesday.

After scattered rain and downpours on-and-off for your Friday, watch for a line of severe wind storms after 10 p.m. tonight. A stray tornado is possible for Indiana.

Multiple tornadoes were reported across Indiana Wednesday night as a powerful storm swept across the Midwest April 3.

When a warning is issued, take action. This means tornado conditions are imminent and have been spotted either by someone on the ground or by radar. Warning areas are typically smaller than those within a watch and are issued for a shorter time period, typically about 15 minutes.

We had multiple debris signatures in the radar beam across central Indiana, confirming tornadoes. However, the actual paths will be confirmed by the NWS.

Here are the current weather alerts in both states: Henry, Jefferson, Oldham, Shelby and Trimble counties are under a flood warning until 9 p.m. Friday. Boyle, Casey, Green, Hart, Lincoln, Marion, Mercer, Taylor, Washington, Adair, Barren, Edmonson, Metcalfe and Russell counties are under a flood warning Friday until 10:30 p.m. EST.

A Tornado Watch has been issued for Lawrence County until 10 p.m. CDT. A Flood Watch has been issued in Indiana for Orange, Washington, Scott, Jefferson, Dubois, Crawford, Perry, Harrison, Floyd and Clark counties from 8 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday morning.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service indicated all hazards are possible including tornadoes, damaging winds, and large hail Wednesday night.
