NEW YORK — Mets infielder Brett Baty exited Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays. In the moment, with the Mets trailing 6-0, it looked like Mets manager Carlos Mendoza was trying to spark something, pinch-hitting Ronny Mauricio in Baty’s place.

Manaea tied his single-season career-high with 12 wins and had a career-best 3.47 ERA across 32 starts last year. The southpaw also tied his career-best 1.08 WHIP, which ranked 11th in baseball, and his ERA ranked 20th.
