Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Watt s is saying goodbye to football. The team released him on Monday after consulting with his representatives and medical experts, who all recommended that Watts medically retire after suffering a severe neck injury.

The Steelers have released Ryan Watts after the rookie suffered a neck injury last preseason, saying it's in his "best interest to discontinue playing football."

On Monday the Pittsburgh Steelers announced cornerback and 2024 draft pick Ryan Watts would be released from the team with the expectation that he will no longer play football. Watts, 23, was selected in the sixth round of last year's draft after spending his college years at Ohio State and Texas.
