Tens of thousands of households have been left without electricity this week after Storm Floris wreaked havoc on power lines. Engineers worked to restore power to around 22,000 properties in the north and north-east of Scotland on Tuesday morning afte r Storm Floris hit the country with high winds.

Storm Floris disruption is expected to continue on Tuesday as the clear up continues after the amber weather alert. Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) said it was continuing to restore supplies after about 50,000 homes were left without power.

A s Storm Floris continues to hit, the Met Office has warned it is likely to bring a spell of unseasonably strong and potentially disruptive winds across Northern Ireland. The yellow warning hit the north from 6am on Monday, bringing gale force winds, while there are weather alerts throughout much of the UK.
