Train operator LNER has warned passengers not to travel north of Newcastle due to Storm Floris, while Avanti West Coast has advised its customers not to travel north of Preston as it will be "heavily affected" by the weather.

A s Storm Floris continues to hit, the Met Office has warned it is likely to bring a spell of unseasonably strong and potentially disruptive winds across Northern Ireland.
