The airplane Qatar gifted President Donald Trump is preparing for its first takeoff no later than this summer, the Air Force said. The Air Force expects the next Qatari-gifted Air Force One plane to be ready by summer 2026.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the aircraft turned around out of an an abundance of caution.
Air Force One was en route to the World Economic Forum in Davos when the lights in the press cabin briefly went dark, a reporter said, per Associated Press. A half hour into the journey, the press was told the flight would be returning to Joint Base Andrews. The president later took a smaller version of Air Force One to Switzerland.
