Dan Bongino has announced he will be stepping down as deputy director of the FBI, less than a year assuming the position.

FBI deputy director Dan Bongino said Wednesday he plans to step down from the bureau in January.

It’s unclear what Bongino intends to do next career-wise, but two sources said they believe he’s likely to return to his pre-government role as a political commentator.
