4Warn Weather – The National Weather Service Forecast Offices in Northern Indiana and Grand Rapids, Michigan, are now confirming four (4) different tornado touchdowns in Southwestern Michigan from Friday’s severe weather event. This was the first tornado that formed from Friday afternoon's strong supercell storm. It would become the deadliest day of tornadoes Michigan has seen since 1980.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer declared a state of emergency in Branch, Cass and St. Joseph counties following the four tornadoes reported late last week. One tornado was preliminarily rated an EF2, with wind speeds at 130 mph.
