Lindsey Vonn, the 41-year-old American alpine skier and former Olympic champion, suffered a complex tibia fracture during the downhill event at Cortina d'Ampezzo on Sunday.

Lindsey Vonn said Monday in a post to Instagram that she suffered a complex tibia fracture "that will require multiple surgeries to fix properly" when she crashed in the downhill Sunday.

The hospital had said on Sunday that she underwent an operation to stabilise her left leg but did not mention a second procedure.
