No. 7 Penn State earned the dubious distinction on Saturday of becoming the first team this season to lose to UCLA.

After a couple of rough losses, Penn State fans want to know how much it could cost to send James Franklin packing.

UCLA pulled off the biggest upset of the 2025 season so far with a stunning 42-37 win over No. 7 Penn State. Bruins quarterback Nico Iamaleava finished with a career-high five total touchdowns as UCLA snapped a 16-game losing streak against AP top-10 teams. The Bruins' last win over a top-10 opponent came in 2010 against Texas.

After No. 7 Penn State suffered a shocking 42-37 loss to UCLA on Saturday, Nittany Lions head coach James Franklin wanted his team to stay united moving forward.

Facing winless UCLA at the Rose Bowl, the Nittany Lions were stunned by the Bruins’ quick start to the game. UCLA scored a touchdown on the opening drive and a sneaky onside kick led to a field goal for a 10-0 lead. It was the first time UCLA led during a game this season.

Penn State will play Oregon in a game broadcast on NBC/Peacock on Saturday night. The game will be Penn State's annual white out and Franklin is still salty that they couldn't have a white out for their home loss to Ohio State last season because of Fox's decision to make it the Big Noon Kickoff game that week.
