The Los Angeles Lakers dropped their season opener on Tuesday night against their division rivals, the Golden State Warriors, 119-109. The Lakers were lackluster in the first and third quarters of the contest, and that was ultimately their downfall, losing those quarters by a total of 16 points.
The Golden State Warriors have opened the 2025-26 NBA season with a 119-109 win on the road over the Los Angeles Lakers. Jimmy Butler led the Warriors with 31 points, 16 of which came from a perfect free-throw shooting performance, while Steph Curry added 23 points.
Butler remains one of the league's most exciting two-way players as he enters his 15th NBA season. The 36-year-old wing appeared in 30 regular season games for the Warriors last year, averaging 17.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 1.7 steals in 32.7 minutes per game while shooting 47.6% from the field and 27.9% from three-point range.
