At least two people have died and several others injured after a car ploughed into crowds in the German city of Leipzig.

Fresh after finishing third in the 2025/26 Bundesliga, RB Leipzig are taking in South Africa on a post-season tour that will see them train in Johannesburg before facing Mamelodi Sundowns in a friendly in Pretoria on Friday (kick-off 8pm CEST).

Police said several were injured in the incident, which happened in the Grimmaische Strasse, a street that leads into central Leipzig's shopping area.

No motive has been determined in the incident so far.
