SNAP is a federally funded program that provides money every month for low-income households to help pay for food.
The shutdown of the United States federal government has now entered its third week as politicians from both major parties continue to battle over health care subsidies, foreign aid and other budgetary matters.

Gov. Tony Evers' request for additional federal funding to Wisconsin to address damages from this summer's severe flooding was denied by the federal government, the governor announced Oct. 24. The governor's spokesperson, Britt Cudaback, told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel the governor's office plans to file an appeal as early as next week.
