Three world leaders — two of them members of the G7 — stood united in opposition Friday to the Trump administration's decision to ease sanctions on Russia's shadow fleet of oil tankers.

European leaders are incensed after President Trump temporarily lifted sanctions on Russian oil to remedy oil costs after his war on Iran sent prices per barrel skyrocketing. “We think that’s wrong,” German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said.

The Group of Seven nations have decided against jointly releasing hundreds of millions of barrels of crude oil reserves to stanch skyrocketing prices, which have hit over $100 a barrel in what has been described as the most severe energy crisis since the 1970s.
