Before the trade, Faedo was designated for assignment by the Tigers last week to create room on the 40-man roster for the new reliever Tommy Kahnle, meaning Faedo would've landed on waivers had the Rays not acquired him in a trade.

The Rays acquired right-hander Alex Faedo from the Tigers in exchange for Minor League catcher Enderson Delgado and cash on Monday. The Rays designated infielder Osleivis Basabe for assignment to make room for Faedo on their 40-man roster.
