Several RTX 5090, RTX 5080, and RTX 5070 Ti Nvidia gaming GPUs with missing ROPs points to a growing manufacturing crisis for the GPU maker.

“We have identified a rare issue affecting less than 0.5% (half a percent) of GeForce RTX 5090 / 5090D and 5070 Ti GPUs, which have one fewer ROP than specified," an Nvidia representative told Tom's Hardware Saturday. "The average graphical performance impact is 4%, with no impact on AI and Compute workloads.”

The investigation is ongoing and it's not clear if this will be solvable with a graphics driver update, or whether a BIOS patch might be required.

The launch of Nvidia's RTX 50-series hasn't gone well so far, and it seems that things aren't about to improve anytime soon.
