TORONTO — The Toronto Zoo says a 13-year-old giraffe has died after getting caught in an opening door to his behind-the-scenes habitat.

Kiko, who was contributing to the growth of his endangered species, died after a "tragic accident," according to zoo officials.

The KC Zoo welcomed female Masai giraffe, Aspen, into the herd on Dec. 29, 2025.
