An emboldened Russia has ramped up military offensives on two fronts in Ukraine. The renewed fighting has scattered Kyiv’s precious reserve troops and threatened to expand the fighting to a sixth Ukrainian region as each side seeks an advantage before the fighting season wanes in the autumn.

Moscow's forces made gains in the Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia regions, according to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

Russia has claimed new territorial gains in its summer offensive, including the capture of Novoukrainka village in Donetsk, pushing its forces to the edge of the Dnipropetrovsk region for the first time.
