I decided to enable WAILA and after doing so my game froze and I had to force close it after a few minutes. Now, I am greeted with a warning screen about WAILA that prevents me from playing the game.

This mod is a GUI library to ease the process of creating GUIs. Backported from 1.12.2 ModularUI. Requires GTNHMixins to work. This mod is under LGPL-3 license.
