Nvidia is revealing today that it has sold more RTX 50-series GPUs than 40-series during the first five weeks of launch. While we don’t have exact figures, Nvidia has supplied a chart that claims it has shipped 2x in that same amount of time.

In advance of next week's GTC and GDC trade shows, Nvidia discussed Blackwell availability, where it specifically stated that it has shipped twice as many Blackwell GPUs in the first five weeks as it did Ada GPUs for the first five weeks in 2022 — but that's effectively comparing only the RTX 4090 against four RTX 50-series GPUs launched this year.

Nvidia claims RTX 50-series GPUs are off to a better start than the previous generation. Nvidia has released four GPUs in the past several weeks, compared to only two in the previous generation. RTX 50-series GPUs remain out of stock at most major retailers.

A closer look at Nvidia's statement suggests supplies for the GeForce RTX 5000 series aren't great. 'Partners are working overtime to...catch up with demand,' the company says.
