Women across the world will call for equal pay, reproductive rights, education, justice and decision-making jobs during demonstrations marking International Women’s Day

About 300 demonstrations were scheduled across the United States. Organizers said that Americans eager to protest considered the occasion an appropriate time to rally.

The day, celebrated annually on March 8, is dedicated to the advancement of women and equality for all genders. The holiday was first celebrated on March 19, 1911, in Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland, with more than one million men and women attending rallies, the website says.
