PORTLAND, Ore. — The Spokane Chiefs are headed back to the WHL Championship Series for the first time since 2008 as the Chiefs swept the Portland Winterhawks in the Western Conference Finals. Spokane won game four 6-4 with three goals late in the third period to clinch the series.

This series win is Spokane's first sweep in any playoff series since 2008, the last year Spokane won the Memorial Cup. Game 1 of the Chiefs' WHL Finals series against the Medicine Hat Tigers is to be determined.
