The designs reflect the three remaining name choices—Utah Mammoth, Utah Outlaws, and Utah Hockey Club. Utah fans have been voting on their preferred name and logo at Delta Center home games, with the final round of in-arena voting concluding Tuesday when the team faces the Philadelphia Flyers.

And then there were three. But how did we get here? The naming of Utah’s hockey franchise — currently known as Utah Hockey Club — has become a dramatic, lengthy process because of copyright issues in seemingly every direction.

Despite the best efforts to keep the team-name voting a concealed process, the three potential logos have been leaked online.

The Utah HC didn’t have much time to plan its very first season in the NHL. The team’s identity was not a priority, which is why we currently have a team named Hockey Club in the NHL. The idea of waiting to make the best choice was a good one,
