The Higgins LCVP (Landing Craft, Vehicle, Personnel), also known as the Higgins boat, played a crucial role during World War II. It was designed by Andrew Higgins based on boats made for operating in the shallow waters of Louisiana's swamps. The craft could carry 36 troops, a Jeep and a 12-man squad, or about 8,000 pounds of cargo.
