Today, the slopes of Croagh Patrick are alive with footsteps, prayers, and stories passed down through generations for Reek Sunday. This annual pilgrimage takes place on the last Sunday of July, honouring St. Patrick, who is said to have fasted for 40 days at the summit in 441 AD. The mountain itself was a sacred site long before Christianity - early Celtic festivals and rituals were held here in honour of Lughnasadh, marking the start of the harvest. 👣 Some climb barefoot, as a test of faith.
