At the start of August, crew members were fortunate enough to take part in a joint training exercise alongside Coastguard Helicopter Rescue 199 and Kinghorn RNLI Lifeboat. Four of our volunteer helms took turns to manoeuvre our Atlantic-85 lifeboat underneath the helicopter to recover and transfer a winchman. These skills are vital to refresh, as transfers such as this may be needed in time critical, high-risk situations and require precise coordination between crew members and both assets. Not
