At the very climax of His Passion, as Jesus hung upon the Cross, He chose His final earthly moments to entrust us with one of His greatest gifts: His Mother. In John 19:26–27, we read, “When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, ‘Woman, behold, your son.’ Then he said to the disciple, ‘Behold, your mother.’” In that moment, John represented not only himself, but all of us.
