The Padstow all-weather lifeboat will be in Newquay this weekend as the RNLI shows off its vital lifesaving work along our coast. Lifeboat Day is taking place tomorrow at the town's harbour, with demonstrations from lifeguards and lifeboat volunteers. It all kicks off with a parade through the town from 10:30 from Marcus Hill, led by a replica of the town's first lifeboat. The day also features a market for the first time, food, a bar, games and an appearance by the RNLI's mascot - Stormy Stan.

Newquay Lifeboat volunteers have helped rescue a surfer struggling to get to shore off the coast of St Agnes. The RNLI says by the time he was rescued on Wednesday evening, he'd been in the water for over 2 hours. Strong winds and the high spring tide meant the St Agnes Crew were unable to launch to help the surfer. After being put on alert, the Newquay 85 inshore lifeboat left the harbour in what's being described as "severely rough seas". The male surfer was described as fatigued and suffering
