Cover cropping is one of my not-so-secret secrets to growing beautiful, healthy flowers. We've taken out most of the summer plants and starting cool season cover crops so the soil has life in it this fall and winter. That adds nutrients and organic material to the soil. Plus, it keeps the soil covered = it'll be healthier come next spring. Today, we're planting peas and radishes. We also plant oats, winter wheat, phacelia, and ocassionally alfalfa.
